Introduction: Suicide is the third most common cause of death among young people and adolescents. Soldiers are among the young people at risk of suicide. It is therefore necessary to investigate the cause of soldiers' suicide. This study aimed to determine the causes of suicide of army soldiers in the western camp.
Methods: Research data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS software, the reliability of which was reported to be 0.75 with Cronbach's alpha for factors affecting suicide and soldiers. The statistical population of this research includes the commanders of military units, inspection of military units, political ideology and information security as well as judicial branches of one of the military units of the western camp. The sample size includes 100 people who have been selected by available sampling method.
Results: The findings of this study indicate that there is a relationship between soldiers' suicide (in order of priority) with family breakdown, parental addiction, poor economic status, quality of housing and food, and the amount of leave.
Conclusion: Paying attention to the quality of housing and food for soldiers, better planning for leave, identifying soldiers with broken families and addicted parents, and paying more attention to the economic situation of soldiers can be effective in preventing them to commit suicide.
