abstract ={Introduction: Recognizing the identity of people based on determining their height is very important, especially in cases where it becomes very difficult to recognize the identity in certain circumstances. In this study, anthropological criteria were used to determine the height of people in the adult population. Methods: In this study, which was conducted as an analytical and cross-sectional study, a number of 98 healthy adult corpses between the ages of 18 and 40 years in Ahvaz city were examined in 2019. The required findings were recorded by a forensic expert. The most important of these findings included the length and width of hands and height of people, and the mean ± standard deviation was included as the measurement range in the population. Also, the relationship between the recorded values was analyzed with the help of statistical tests in SPSS software version 25. Results: Most of the subjects were male (73.5%) and were in the age range of 31 to 40 years (with an average age of 29.31 and a standard deviation of 6.69 years). Based on the findings obtained from the study, it was found that there is a positive and significant correlation between hand length and hand width of people (P>0.05; r>0.7>0.4). Also, after estimating a significant model, the obtained regression equation for predicting people's height was obtained. The range of the standard error of prediction was in the range of 0.719 to 2.007 cm with an average of 1.17 and a standard deviation of 0.343. Conclusion: Hand dimension criteria (hand length and width) can be used to estimate people's height. The reported regression equation can be used to estimate the height of people based on the above criteria in the field of forensic anthropometry.},

abstract ={Introduction: Social health is one of the most basic health indicators of any society, which is affected by the issues that people face, including those applying for gender change. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the social health of people applying for gender reassignment in comparison with transsexuals and normal people. Methods: This comparative causal study was a cross-section research employing the Keyes standardized questionnaire. The research population was conducted in three groups of gender change applicants who referred to the forensic medicine of Mashhad, who were confirmed to have gender identity disorder during 2017, and according to that two groups of gender change and normal people were included in the study. The research data were compared using ANOVA test and Spearman and ETA tests were utilized for the correlation of non-parametric variables. Results: In the general dimension of social health, no significant difference was observed between the three studied groups (P>0.05), in the two dimensions of social affinity and cohesion, there was a significant difference between the three groups of gender reassignment applicants before the operation, the gender reassigned group, and normal individuals so that in the aspect of cohesion, the mean of transgendered people is significantly higher than normal people (P=0.03) and also in the facet of correlation, the mean of people with gender dysphoria before surgery is significantly less than that of normal people. (P=0.03). Meanwhile, a moderate relationship was found between the level of education and that of social health of people (r=0.55). Conclusion: Before the operation, people suffering from sexual boredom are less interested in their social life and the world around them compared to that of normal people, which is caused by their despair and hopelessness in accepting their desired social identity. It is therefore necessary to identify and treat these people before entering the field of social life.},

title = {Assessing and Explaining the Prevalence of Child Abuse and Its Criminalization in Isfahan, Iran},
abstract ={Introduction: Child abuse by parents or others is a social and health problem that can cause serious harm to children and even give rise to their death. This social phenomenon is therefore considered a crime today. In most cases, child abuse is a sign of family disorder, and by understanding the factors involved in such event, the appropriate action can be taken against it. To this end, in the present study, the prevalence of child abuse cases and its criminalization in Isfahan has been evaluated and detected. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the recorded data of 30 abused children over the years 2015 and 2016 was collected from centers such as Isfahan Forensic Medicine Organization, courts and lawyers’ offices in the city. Results: The results of this study showed that child abuse has increased in Isfahan during these two years by 0.005%. Out of 30 registered abused children, 11 (36.7%) were girls with the mean age of 7±1.83 years and 19 (63.3%) were boys with the mean age of 7.79± 2.12 years. The highest frequency of child abuse cases with 14 (46.7%) was pertinent to the type of physical abuse, followed by sexual abuse with 11 (36.7%) and no case of child criminal exploitation was found. The abuser was mostly familiar with the abused one 11 (36.7%). Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, although the prevalence of child abuse cases was very low, most of them were physical and sexual, and boys have been reported more than girls. This phenomenon has been more prevalent in low-income families with lower levels of education, and the abuser has often not been a first-degree relative. Therefore, it seems that informing families about children’s rights can prevent the spread of this social problem as much as possible.},

This study aims to investigate the causes of the complaints of patients visiting the emergency department at Be’sat Hospital in Hamedan, Iran in 2018-2019. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, all the complaints made over the years 2018 and 2019 from the emergency department of Ba’ath Hospital in Hamedan, Iran were investigated. Demographic information, causes of complaint, sources of complaint, results of complaints and the complaint section were collected. Results: One hundred and seventy complaints were filed in two years. One hundred and nineteen cases (68.4%) were filed by the patient’s companions. Half of the patients who complained had university education. The postponement in the visit and assignment of the patient by the doctor, inappropriate treatment of the treatment staff, medical malpractice and wrong diagnosis were the most important reasons for the client complaints. In 45% of the cases, the patient or the patient’s companion was right. Meanwhile, 39.1% of patients had no convincing reason to complain and 15.5% of their complaints were unsuccessful. A significant relationship was observed between the outcome of the complaint and education. Most of the registered complaints that were right with the patient were relevant to people with university education (P=0.001). Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that postponement in the visit and assignment of the patient by the doctor, inappropriate treatment of the emergency personnel with the patient, medical malpractice, and wrong diagnosis are the most important causes of client complaints. abstract ={An autopsy is a post-mortem medical procedure performed on a deceased person with the primary purpose of collecting tissue to support basic research and knowledge translation. This method is increasingly used to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms of cancer development, metastasis, and treatment resistance. In this review article, we discuss the reason for using research autopsy in cancer research and provide evidence-based discussion of the quality of postmortem tissues compared to other types of biological samples. It also discusses the advantages of using postmortem tissues over other types of biological samples, including the large amount of tissue available and the multi-area sampling that is available, which is not possible in living patients. An autopsy helps identify the clonal origin and ways in which metastases spread. Also, the study of the effect of treatments on the tumor and the creation of rare and tumor-derived tissue banks in the patient is an integral part of forensic strategies and research autopsy.},

abstract ={Introduction: After four years of the COVID-19 disease outbreak, despite the recovery of many patients, a significant number of them are still suffering from it and its complications. In this regard, many patients are struggling with its long-term effects and cannot return to normal life. These patients experience a wide range of life-disrupting disorders, which considers the importance of examining long-term symptoms and paying special attention to these patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 1400 for three months on 280 COVID-19 patients of Shahid Mostafa Khomeini Hospital in Tehran, Iran. Those whose disease was confirmed by laboratory testing (RT-PCR positive). these patients were under observation from the onset time of infection until the end of quarantine. Long-term symptoms among discharged patients were collected and compared using a questionnaire containing demographic information and patients' statements. The data were analyzed with SPSS version 21 software and the results were reported. Results: 45.7% of patients had at least one long-term symptom and 54.3% had more than one long-term symptom. The symptom of fatigue had the highest frequency (64.4%) and the lowest frequency belonged to diarrhea with 2.7%. Significantly (P<0.050), long-term symptoms were seen in women more than men, in old people more than young people, and in obese people more than thin people. The severity of the disease was directly related to the frequency of symptoms. Conclusion: In general, it can be said that there are long complications in all patients. Since among demographic indicators, "obesity", "severity of illness" and "hospitalization" have been the most important factors in increasing the frequency of long-term symptoms, paying attention to these factors and considering possible solutions to prevent can lead to improving the quality of patient’s life and reduces the duration of long-term complications.},

title = {Review Study of the Application of Proteomics in Forensic Medicine},
abstract ={Protein is a major component of all biological evidence, often a matrix containing other biomolecules such as polynucleotides, lipids, carbohydrates, and small molecules. The proteins present in a sample reflect the transcriptional and translational program of the cell types of origin. For this reason, proteins can be used to identify body fluids and tissues, as well as to transmit genetic information in the form of single amino acid polymorphisms and the result of non-synonymous SNPs. This study examines the application and potential of proteomics in forensic medicine and examines the historical role that protein analysis has played in the development of forensic science. This review highlights how innovations in proteomic mass spectrometry have overcome many of the historical limitations of forensic protein science and how the application of forensic proteomics differs from proteomics in the life sciences. Two developing applications of forensic proteomics are reviewed in detail: body fluid and tissue identification and proteomics genotyping. This review then highlights emerging areas of proteomics that have the potential to impact forensic medicine in the near future, including fingerprint analysis, species identification, peptide toxicology, proteomic species estimation, and postmortem interval estimation. Finally, this review highlights some of the more recent innovations in proteomics that may guide further development of the field.},

abstract ={Introduction: The high prevalence of mental health problems in prisons has become a global problem. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of group therapy based on acceptance and commitment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and reality therapy on depression, anxiety, aggression, and physical complaints of male inmates of Isfahan Central Prison. Methods: The present study was a one-blind randomized controlled trial study (pre-test, post-test and follow-up) with a control group. The statistical population included all male prisoners of Isfahan Central Prison, from whom 120 individuals were selected based on systematic random sampling and randomly assigned to three experimental groups and one control group (per group n=30). The experimental groups received group therapy based on acceptance and commitment, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and reality therapy for 12 sessions of 90 minutes, and the control group was placed on the waiting list. Subjects completed the checklist of symptoms of mental disorders (SCL-90) by Dragotis et al., (1994) in three stages. Analysis of variance with repeated measurements and SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Results: The results of the analysis of variance with repeated measurements showed that group therapy based on acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and reality therapy were effective in improving the symptoms of depression, anxiety, aggression, and physical complaints (p<0.05). Also, according to the results of the posthoc test, there was a significant difference between the three treatment groups in the post-test in the research variables (p<0.05). Conclusion: Group therapy based on acceptance and commitment, cognitive-behavioral therapy and reality therapy improved the symptoms of depression, anxiety, aggression and physical complaints in male prisoners, and cognitive-behavioral therapy was superior. },

Became These two groups were matched in terms of age and sex.The data collection tool included a checklist that included children's demographic, anthropometric, and nutritional information. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 software and Mann-Whitney and chi-square tests.Findings:There was a significant difference between the case and control groups in terms of the intervals between breastfeeding (P=0.016) and the number of breastfeeding times (P=0.041) at night. Also, there was a significant difference between the 2 groups in terms of children's preference for complementary foods (P=0.001) and the simultaneity of breast milk and complementary foods (P=0.007).The average weight of children in the control group was higher than the case group (P=0.001),which was significant, but no difference was seen between the average height of the children, the average weight at birth, and the average weight at the beginning of 6 months. Conclusion:The intervals between breastfeeding, the number of times of breastfeeding at night, children's desire for complementary food and the simultaneity of breast milk and complementary food were related to children's developmental disorder. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended to give educational programs for mothers in the field of breastfeeding and the use of complementary foods },

Conclusion: According to the results, most of the parents did not have knowledge about the right time to tell the truth to the child and they had not even thought about this issue. It is necessary to teach couples when and how to tell the truth and to hold a counseling session with a psychiatrist. },
